Overview
This certificate provides a structured series of activities where students will analyze their prior leadership and missionary service experience in terms of the knowledge, skills, and abilities. Students will demonstrate prior learning by developing a portfolio for the purpose of petitioning for academic credit for prior learning obtained outside of the classroom at Ensign College. With the successful completion of the Professional Leadership course and submission of the Professional Leadership and Service Portfolio, students can earn eight additional elective credits that can be applied towards their graduation from Ensign College.
Returned missionaries will qualify if they have served at least 9 months and received an honorable release. Currently, enrolled students who participated in any form of missionary service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can complete an assessment on leadership, service, and college-wide capabilities to earn Ensign College credits for prior learning.
