Overview
The Electrical Program at Ensign College is a hands-on, industry-aligned program designed to prepare students for entry into the electrical trade through immersive technical instruction, applied learning, and the development of durable professional skills. The program combines immersive and applied experiences with classroom instruction, lab-based training, and emerging technologies to help students develop competency in electrical theory, wiring methods, safety procedures, blueprint reading, code application, and troubleshooting. Consistent with Ensign College’s mission to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ, the program also emphasizes professionalism, communication, ethical decision-making, dependability, service, and discipleship. The curriculum is designed to permit students to pursue a pathway to licensure as a residential journeyman or a degree in Construction Management.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the two-year Electrical Program at Ensign College will be prepared for a variety of entry-level and advanced career opportunities within the electrical and construction industries. Students may pursue licensure as electrical apprentices, residential or commercial electrical technicians, maintenance electricians, low-voltage installers, electrical service technicians, or construction support specialists in both the private and public sectors. The program is designed to align with industry expectations and apprenticeship pathways, positioning graduates to continue progressing toward Utah residential or commercial journeyman licensure in Utah while meeting the growing workforce demand for skilled, reliable, and ethically grounded electrical professionals.

Professional Licensure
In partnership with Mountainland Technical College, this program is designed to satisfy the educational requirements for the Residential Journeyman Electrician license in Utah. Completion of this program alone does not qualify a student for licensure. Students must also complete the required number of hours of work experience as a licensed apprentice and pass the Utah Residential Journeyman Electrician written exam and the Utah Residential Electrician Practical exam. For more information about this license, see the Utah Division of Professional Licensing website and the Ensign College State Authorization and Professional Licensing webpage.
Ensign College has not determined whether this program satisfies the educational requirements for licensure in states other than Utah. Students intending to seek licensure outside Utah should first review the applicable educational and licensing requirements in the jurisdiction where they plan to pursue licensure.
