There are two kinds of student learning outcomes associated with this program.
Institutional Learning Outcomes or College-Wide Capabilities (CWC)
Program-Specific Learning Outcomes
Program-specific learning outcomes outline the designed learning process for students as they progress through the program requirements and achieve the desired objectives. This learning journey should inform decisions related to the order in which students complete required courses and graduation plans.
Outcome
PLO 1: Electrical Theory Application. Students will apply foundational electrical principles including voltage, current, resistance, and power to solve basic circuit problems, including the use of Ohm’s Law, with at least 75–80% accuracy on applied assessments.
Outcome
PLO 2: National Electrical Code (NEC) Competency. Students will locate and reference applicable NEC articles and apply basic code requirements to introductory electrical scenarios with instructor guidance in lab and written exercises.
Outcome
PLO 3: Installation & Wiring Skills. Students will perform basic residential wiring tasks, including device installation, simple branch circuits, and introductory raceway/conduit work, following established procedures and instructor-directed standards.
Outcome
PLO 4: Blueprint Reading & Electrical Drawings. Students will identify common electrical symbols and interpret simple residential diagrams and layouts, translating them into basic wiring tasks with instructor support.
Outcome
PLO 5: Tools, Equipment & Testing. Students will safely use common hand tools, basic power tools, and introductory testing devices (e.g., multimeters) to measure and verify simple electrical conditions under supervision.
Outcome
PLO 6: Safety & Compliance. Students will demonstrate OSHA-aligned safety practices, including proper tool use, hazard awareness, and adherence to lab safety protocols, achieving compliance on safety evaluations.
Outcome
PLO 7: Troubleshooting & Problem Solving. Students will identify and correct basic electrical issues (e.g., open circuits, improper connections) using guided troubleshooting processes and instructor feedback.
Outcome
PLO 8: Foundational Systems Awareness. Students will describe the purpose and basic operation of key electrical components and systems, including panels, circuits, and introductory control concepts, at a foundational level.
Outcome
PLO 9: Professional & Apprenticeship Readiness. Students will demonstrate entry-level workplace behaviors, including punctuality, task completion, communication, and teamwork, consistent with expectations for first-year apprentices.
